Vanya Gant is a consultant in microbiology and infectious diseases at University College London Hospital. He is also Divisional Clinical Director at UCLH. Vanya is responsible for London’s Tuberculosis Find and Treat Service which provides access to TB treatment following diagnosis to London’s homeless communities.
Vanya studied medicine at the Middlesex Hospital in London and qualified in 1980. He has been practicing ward-based infectious diseases medicine and microbiology for over 20 years. During this time Vanya also held the post of senior lecturer at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals, during which time he established a clinical infection service. He gained a PhD in cellular immunology and has subsequently focused his clinical work on the field of microbiology and infectious diseases.
Vanya’s main focus of work is in diagnosing and treating fever in patients with immune deficiencies.
